Converting GMC z71 to Chevy z71

I just bought a 98 GMC z71 sle ext cab.Its a nice truck however I like the bold chrome Chevy grille much better than the color coded gmc grille.My question is will a 98 chevy grille fit on the truck?I would like to basically change the truck to a chevy,with a new grille,side emblems and tailgate emblem.Does anyone know if this will work?

Also what are the biggest tires I can put on this truck at factory height?It has the stock 16 inch rims.

Not real sure about the grill fitment, it should fit.

About the biggest tires you can fit on there will be 285 x 75 x 16. Some have got 305s on there, but most can only fit 285s.

I'm pretty sure it's a direct fit. It all depends on the type of side-marker lights that it has. I say find someone who is willing to let you try the switch. Good luck!

A chevy grill will definately fit on your GMC. The headlights and park lamps are the same, but the corner marker lamps are different. Filler panels are the same too. Don't forget the airbag says GMC on it too. You may like the look of a Chevy better, but this conversion will really hurt you when you go to sell. You will never convince anyone that the truck wasn't wrecked before. Your title will always say GMC.

It's really interesting to see what one person likes another person dislikes.

For me I have allways hated the "bold" bar across the grill on chevy's and prefered the open look of the GMC.

Thats why I have a Yukon.

And when I was looking at used Tahoes / Yukons, If I found a Tahoe that had all of the right stuff and cost I would have bought it and done something about the grill.

To each their own do what makes you happy.

This is just a guess too, but I would think the grille would interchange. GM tries to make as many cosmetically different models as they can from a single platform so that leads me to believe the Chevy and GMC grilles would share the same mounting points.

And I will weigh my vote in for the color-coded GMC grille. I prefer the single-color front end look on my GMC 'Burb to the Chevy's. When I started shopping for 'Burbs, the first one I saw was a cherry-red GMC and it looked tight compared to the Chevy sitting next to it.
