I'm looking at getting a dash cam for my truck, and I'm wondering where everyone is hard wiring them in. Is there anything in the over head console to tap into?

I ran hid my power cable between windshield and headliner there was a small gap all the way across. Then down the side piller and your underneath for power.

Fuse box below a pillar on the side of dash. The cigarette lighter fuse has an extra spot that allows it to be ignition sourced rather than hot all the time. You can use this extra spot to tap into ign power with a male spade connector, just make sure you fuse it as the camera requires. Ground cam obviously be sourced from tons of places.

As mentioned in the post above, there is at least one spot with an open connector that is only powered when the truck is running. That's what I used, along with a small inline fuse for the dash cam. There's a couple of good ground points just in front of the left fuse panel on the door frame.

The only exposed wiring on mine is an inch or two where it goes from the cam itself to under the rearview mirror wiring cover.
