hello everyone, this is my first post. i'm planning on getting a k&n FIPK kit for my 2000 GMC C1500 5.3. i just wanted to know if anyone has noticed good gains w/ it or if anyone has any dyno results on them. just trying to see if it's worth $260  . also i have a 3" body lift, is that gonna be a problem? thanks

I just installed a FIPK a few hours ago. It's definitely a LOT louder at WOT. The throttle response is quicker as expected and it does seem to have a little more power but it's hard to tell. I haven't had it long enough to know what effect it'll have on my gas mileage but I'm happy with it.

I'll also be installing a Gibson exhaust in 2 weeks to go with it. Hopefully, they'll work together very well.

I personaly don't think that the filters flow any better that a paper filter. I believe that all the power increase comes from the less resrictive intake boxs and tubes. I do think that a k&n filter looks better though. For example look at greygosts filter, it wouldn't look as good with a paper element.

yep, just installed mine this last weekend. it's NICE. quicker throttle response, little more bottom end and top end power, sounds sweet when you step on it and it looks alot better under the hood. flowmaster/kn combo sounds really good :D . next step is the 4:56's

Hey did you notice your engine idling at a lower RPM after installing the FIPK? Mine idles right around 500 RPM now. It's not a problem just an interesting observation.

The idle was just a little rough after i hooked the battery back up, because the computer needed to re-learn all that good stuff. now it idles fine, around the middle of 500 & 1000.

do you have a flowbench and tested it yourself? According to k&n, they outflow paper elements. They also have tiny holes that you can see through unlike paper. That would explain why just replacing a flat panel paper filter with a k&n give a little more on the butt dyno. Maybe that's why the gov't puts them in apache helicopters. But I do agree the tubing and box is restrictive and can gain more having an aftermarket intake.

Don't waste your money IMO. I have a FIPK and the jist of it is that it makes a cool hissing noise which is just your air pump, motor, able to breath louder.
