Love mine, great highway and city economy, Towing is actually better than my 14 Sierra 6 speed. And with all the extras the models come with the awd, 4hi, and 4lo work awesome. Of and Yes they are available in the entire market. NOT ONLY CALIFORNIA, like the other guys said. The start stop is flawless, The 4cyl,8cyl modes also work great . I live in Alberta beside THE ROCKIES, so our roads are no where near flat. so the hybrid and 4cyl mode keeps your cruise engaged longer before the 8cyl kicks in. The only minor issue i would have liked seing available is the gear ratios being a little stiffer. But get up and go is good, ride is nice, and long journeys not to bad with the seating.. It also helped that GM put in a few extras on these models , BOSE stereo, locking diff's, Power seats, and power moon roof. (in the canadian models anyways) . Love my Truck....

I love mine and it has a couple of bennies that I never see mentioned on forums. e.g. adds a little bit of HP and torque when you need it and you can also jump start off the e-assist battery without ever leaving your cab. I haven't needed that yet but I like knowing it's there, there's been times in the past that would have been really nice.

 

My over one year old 2018 truck runs great, never any issues with anything at all, however I did add a Range AFM delete because I live (Puget Sound) in horrendous traffic and I just didn't like the concept of turning on an off so often (it worked fine, just the concept bothered me). I take the range out for highway trips and enjoy the better MPG.

@Grinkly do you notice any harsher downshifts with the Range and 8 speed/eAssist? I installed it and noticed the shifts were much harsher than when driving L7 (disabling AFM and autostop/start

@3tspapat  I did, however it may have just been psychosomatic as I had read about that on this and other forums so I was looking for it :)  Regardless it went away, or I got used to it, after a few days and it's like butter now.

 

I'm no expert so just my thoughts: I believe the brains need to relearn habits without AFM so if you're going back and forth between L7, the Range, and nothing: it may not be able to figure it all out. Maybe just leave the Range in for a week of driving and see?  Mine's staying in until next spring when we go camping and I'm doing long highway trips.

I had mine installed and used continuously for a month and had gone through about 4 tanks of gas. I really didn't notice it until my buddy drove it and said it shifted rough. After that I paid special attention to it and sure enough it did shift harsher. I then took off the range and drove in L7 for a couple tanks. No bangs...then drove in D and no bangs. Put the range back on and was back to the harsher shifts. I've since given it to another friend to test but he still hasn't used it.

I love my 2017 Silverado lt eassist 4x4 . Ive had for 3 years now, and 66000 km. I use mine for offroad, towing, commuting, Great fuel economy, and good performance , towing capability. I have had `0`issue so far and has been maintained by my local dealer or myself. That little extra uummmpppfff when needed under load is great. The start éstop feature equally as useful, but it is kind of annoying when it does start up and you are on the throttle hard, and you get driveline clunks. Gm says this is normal, so thank god i got a 170000km bumper to bumper warranty with it.

@prtsguru just release the brake a little early so it wakes up then mash on it. I too had the clunk before...not a great experience. Also had a few times when the truck had turned off before it was done shifting first, so when it started back up there was a small klunk from the truck shifting back into first. Other than this, enjoying the truck still. Saving up to level it next.

I have a 2018 GMC SERRIA with eAssist. It now has 24K miles on it. I’ve taken it in to 4 times to two different dealers to have it diagnosed regarding a problem with the truck bucking or studdering intermittently at cold startup after setting overnight.. I just picked up the truck after leaving it at the dealer for two days. They checked everything and found no issues. As with another post on this thread, it happens mostly when backing at low speed while applying light pressure on the brake. It happens less often going forward. One dealer didn’t reproduce the problem and told me the brakes were glazed. However the other dealers found nothing wrong with the brakes. It resembles the feel of the ABS kicking in but there is no pulsing or pushback felt in the break pedal. The Tach indicates no change in RPM and it also happens in manual transmission mode. On a recent trip I was approached at gas stations by two other owners stating they had the same problem. The dealers say they have never heard of this problem nor has GM. I’m curious if other owners ever experience this problem and if there is a resolution. Any thoughts?

My 18 Silverado E-assist did the same thing until it warmed up. Was annoying.

Thanks for your response. Does it still do it? Did you ever have it diagnosed?

Doesn’t do it now because I have a 2020 AT4. Lol. But it did it until I traded it in. Never got it diagnosed.
