I've been in talk with Lew and I still have hard time believing that is the problem. He denies it is not the tune and that it is in fact fuel--I've checked everything from cracked manifold to cat.

 

I bought the 87 octane because all I wanted was DOD to turned off and my tire size set right. The added power was just a bonus. I reloaded the tune, boosted my octane (had 87 in there) and fill with 93. I'm going to test this and then drop down to mid-grade and go from there.

not enough octane in the gas was my first thought from your first post. I run 93 or E85 in mine when using the 91 octane tune from superchips just to make sure theres enough octane

Check the engine tick thread. I have the noise and AFM is disabled in my truck.

It's gone away; I've been running mid-grade fuel for about a month and the noise never happens.
