Higher Octane Fuel Hurts Transmission?

Good news. I think I fixed the problem. I checked the clamps on my air aid tube and where it connects to MAF and to

the air box and the clamps were woefully loose. I tightened everything up and it made a big difference. Didn’t realize a vacuum leak would be hat significant.

But did you learn anything about the difference between inductive vs deductive reasoning?

Always, and I mean always go back to what mods you have done to a vehicle first.  It is usually the source of the problem.

Fuel has 0 impact on the transmission

Wrong. These ECUs have three different spark tables; Low Octane, High Octane, and Flex Fuel. Since at least the 6l80 (6 speed) is a dual clutch tranny any change in HP will require adjustments to shift pressures to adapt to how the shift feels. Granted Low Octane to E85 is usually only ~30hp gain it shouldn't really be THAT noticeable but some people can tell any minor difference.
