I have a new 2018 1500 z71 and have noticed the transmission doesn't seem to shift as quickly as it should.  When I step on the gas and the truck downshifts it seems to take way too much time to make the shift to a lower gear.  Its to the point where, when I floor it, there is probably 1-1.5 seconds before shift is even made and the truck takes off.

At first, I thought maybe the transmission was programmed for a break in period, but the truck has ~1100 miles on it now.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have a 2018 1500 Z71 with 900 miles and it struggles to keep a consistent speed while in 5th/6th gear under 1500 RPMs. It hesitates/fish bite /search for gear while going up hill or under any type of load.  Instead of building up speed and staying in that gear under load it will stay in low RPMs and just struggle.  It won’t let you build up speed.  If you mash the gas it will downshift and be fine, but you should be able to hold a consistent speed while on the highway and be able to build up speed without struggling to figure out which gear it should be in.

To the original poster. Seems like normal drive by wire and torque management.

look / search for the chuggle tsb. They reprogram the way the torque converter locks/unlocks and it fixes your problem 95 percent.

Thanks - I believe I found that TSB, but it references the 2017. Do you or anyone know if that chuggle TSB  corrects the issue on the 2018?  You’d think that they would’ve automatically incorporated that TSB into the 2018s if they knew it was an issue on the 2017s, but maybe not...

That would depend on when the TSB was issued and how many 18's were manufactured before that time.
