Best year for 6.0/6.2 in regards to reliability.

This is in regards to Silverados, and Sierras

What year/s had the best of the 6.0s and 6.2?

I'm specifically in search of a 05'-13' with those engine options.

I realize that spans 2 generations, and I'm Ok with that. But, finding one with

under 75k miles will be a chore, so it will most likely be an 07'+

I know the 05,06s had the 6.0,and I THINK that carried over into the newer gen for 07'

What I'm unsure of, is when the 6.2 started, and which is the most desirable in terms of reliability, and NOT having Afm, Dod/cyl deactivation.

What year model do I want to search for?

What year did the 6.2 start?

What year is the  most simple?

There is a lot of information in these 2 links.  I am pretty sure the 6.2 was first found in the 2007 Denali and Escalade only.  All of the 2500 series trucks had the 6.0 as their base engine and the 6.2 was only found in the 1500 series trucks as an option.  The 6.0 was pretty much the same as in term of reliability.  With all engine swaps, try to avoid AFM unless you want to spend money to do away with it.  As far as simplicity the 6.0 is pretty basic, but some of the 6.2 had AFM and VVT.

L9H motors are VVT without AFM.  The very early L92s have AFM hardware but not active.  Later L92 do not have AFM.  L94 has AFM.

The Gen IV L76 6.0 has AFM, the LY6 and L96 do not.

Looking for a Tahoe?  There's a guy thinking of selling his on the Tahoe-Yukon Forum, 2009 LTZ with the L9H and under 50k miles.

Had a discussion, recently.  More of a bar bet, than anything.

Was trying to remember the year/years, engine, and platform that was outfitted with AFM hardware, but never activated.

Always wondered about the durability of AFM components.  Perhaps the L92 could provide us with some insight?

People still disable AFM and those lifters still fail.  Recently came across two people with L94 Denalis and their non AFM lifters failed.  Those L92 with AFM were built before April 1, 2005.

Gen III LQ4 and LQ9 6.0 engines are excellent motors.  Gen IV LY6 and L96 6.0 engines are also excellent/durable motors.  The latter two are only found in 3/4 ton pickups (GMT900).  The L96 is still in production and used on the new 2500/3500 K2s.

The L9H is your most durable (in stock form) 6.2 and was used in the 1500 series GMT900 pickups starting in 2009.  Probably on the Denalis would have it, maybe some LTZs.
