Appreciate it,  but I’m probly looking at nerfs or fold downs. I don’t want to sacrifice that clean look

I guess that’s why we do it right? I feel the same way, and I agree with you honestly I don’t expect stock ride quality. It’s gonna be stiffer and bounce all over the road sometimes, but I wasn’t expecting to feel the shake and stiffness in the front end. That’s all I’m sayin, I mean where’s the line that we settle on between what the truck should look like and ride quality. If I want to drive the thing 250 miles I think I’d pull my hair out shaking the whole damn time and looking down and seeing 3200 miles on my truck. That can’t be acceptable

Yeah totally. To be clear I wasn't trying to specifically call you out. You should expect the ride to be a bit harsher, you shouldn't expect it to try and tear itself apart.

Personally I notice that I need to have my wheels balanced more frequently as it seems the vibration gets worse over time but clears itself up with a balance.

I don't see how you can put a lift with larger wheels and tires and expect the same ride as stock. You're adding leafs in the rear that are stuffer, or more leafs, and the front has stiffer springs I believe. Add in the rotating mass of the wheels and the more aggressive tread with higher rating and you're going to get a less comfortable ride. Sure the new trucks are better than old trucks but we are stilling talking less comfortable than stock.

I think anyone that argues this point is just trying to justify their purchase. I paid good money for a BDS kit with good tires/rims and a professional install and it doesn't ride near as nice as stock.I smile every time I see it though.

You are right, i was wrong in saying that my truck rides as smooth as stock. It won't ride the same as stock with lift and larger tires, but I can tell you it's a pretty damn close ride to stock when I put my winter wheels on. Smooth, no vibration, even with my add a leaf it Doesn't bounce all over the road like a 3500 with no weight on it. I just put my Summers on, 35 x 12.5 Cooper stt pros, and yes you can feel the lug and notice the added load on the motor and brakes but that has nothing to do with the lift itself, those are wheel issues, the truck still rides smooth as far as the suspension goes.

The original poster has a bds lift, which replaces the front struts but reuses factory springs. So spring rate is the same, not stiffer.

I'm not trying to justify my purchase, buying a lift is a huge waste of money lol and not practical, I've had to extend my sled ramp, and getting anything into and out of the bed is a pain in the ass, but it looks awesome. I know from my experience if the bds lift is installed correctly, and we are talking about the suspension lift itself, it should ride pretty damn close to stock.

I think what throws some guys off is that these trucks come with car tires on them. They are a p rated tired, p stands for passenger. They are very smooth riding. Then we get lifted and throw on 33 inch 10 ply LT's and pump 40+ psi in them and then think our bds lift rides harsh. It's mostly the tires, especially if some tech shit the bed and forgot to balance the wheels.

I think you need to take the truck to get looked at again. You are 100 percent correct in saying it should not be vibrating or shaking. They neglected to balanced the tires in the first place I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't balanced then correctly there second go around.

If it were me I would throw my stock wheels on, and take'r out for a rip, if the vibration is gone you know it's the wheels. If it is still there you know it is something that they did bc the truck wasn't shaking before the lift was installed, and nor should it shake after a lift is installed.

This why I’m here! To find out what happens to these nice GM trucks after lift kits & bigger tires are installed!

Agreed with your recommendation and to be clear I wasn't trying to call you (or anyone) out of this. Just stating that people change suspension, steering geometry, larger tires and rims and expect the same ride and I find that silly.

They shouldn't ride like a bounce house but I wouldn't expect the same level of comfort as before the lift. Especially with the larger truck rated tires (as you called out).

Cheers!

I hear ya, I got a little defensive, but wanted to make sure people knew that just bc they installed a lift doesn't mean their truck should ride like crap after. I know what your saying about some expecting the same ride though, definitely agree with you.

No worries man. Totally agree though. The technology behind these newer lift kits is much better than older kits and when you add in how nice these trucks ride from the factory you're still getting an awesome ride.
