Alpine x110-SLV and adding steering wheel controls

So last week I installed the alpine x110 in my work truck model with I03 radio, and I have to say it’s pretty awesome. Was relatively easy to install and works great. Then I got adventurous and ordered a new steering wheel with controls without doing much research. My thought was that since the alpine tee-d into the clock spring/ steering wheel control harness that the new wheels controls would just work. Clearly they don’t. Anyone have any insight into this by chance?

 

One of my theories is that maybe the i03 doesn’t have a power signal going to the wheel so there is nothing being sent to the radio. 

Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

anyone have any insight into this at all? i called alpine and all they could recommend was to check the wiring. I did tell them my steering wheel controls weren't working not that i added them. i figured they would clam up if i say i added things.

I cant help you, but the install looks great!
