Removing / Replacing Step Pads on 2016 OEM Running Boards

Anybody know how these suckers come off ?

 

 

I have one that is cracked and I want to replace it but, also have some surface rust showing up under the pads so I'd like to remove all 4, polish out all that mess then put 'em back together and possibly spray bed liner coating on the whole mess...

That's a good idea to coat them. Disappointing that they have started to deteriorate so soon. Mine still look new *knocks on wood

Yeah 3 Ohio winters and 40k miles and I’ve got corrosion around all 4 pads. I’m pretty good about keeping the truck washed / waxed too. I don’t love the look of these steps but, I’m just a little too short for easy in and and many of my passengers would have a really tough time with no steps.
