Just got my new 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Sle for work. Was passing someone yesterday and ended up getting up to 174km/h before I let off? My 2017 6.2 cuts out at 160km/h. Anyone else have this happen?

Its possible the truck should be tuned to not have a speed limiter. I had an 18 loaner but the fastest I had it was 100 mph (should be right at 160km/h), I didn't notice the speed limiter kicking in, but I had to start slowing down almost immediately after hitting 100. My 16 has a Hypertech speedometer calibrator on it and it removed the speed limiter, I have hit 109 mph in my truck. 109 in a truck with a 6" lift doesn't instill confidence though. haha

No I got the truck from the dealership at 20 km. Could it be a screw up from gm?

Read though this if you want. Basically it seems different trucks have the limiter set to different speeds. I’d guess if you would have kept in it you would have found it. I’m assuming it’s because of the speed rating on the tires the truck comes with but there’s some other theories as to why...
