Yeah you can swap overlays back and forth. As long as you have a diesel since the tach only goes to 5k on the diesels and 6k on the gas. If you use a diesel overlay on a gas you might have some indicator lamps in the wrong spots too.

Thank you,

I just stumbled on a set of overlays with the 5K tach.  Now if only i could locate the servos with the correct color LED's.

Yeah the servos are a little harder. If you can find a bricked cluster with them for cheap they will still work too.

Just grabbed this one off eBay as my donor cluster. $200 for this one.  Guess i could put it back together with the Red leftovers and sell to someone.  Might be hard since the rest of the trucks will be blue back light.

I attached a picture, would this work as a color donor to swap from red to blue on a 2016 denali cluster? Or is a 2016 denali cluster already blue? Idk when they changed from red to blue in the denali?

The 2016 Denali clusters are RED and from what I read in this thread the cluster overlays you have pictured will NOT work in a Denali cluster.

So if I order a cluster for my 2015.5, it will be all red, and work after Chris programs it. At that point I still need another Denali cluster to switch to blue? So a 2017-19 denali cluster, or can it be a truck that isnt a denali but like an slt or sle model and still work?

Yup. And has to be a denali. Or parts from a 17-18 Denali cluster.

Corwest,

Is there a trick to removing the needles?  I pulled gently but wanted to ask before I caused any damage what the proper procedure is.

Thank you,

****I played with it a little longer and figured it out.

Actually since I sourced a cluster to get the overlays and the servo boards I should just be able to unplug the servo board and switch without taking the overlay off correct? Can you tell me how this connection comes apart so I do not destroy it?

Thank you,

Interesting mod.  I’m waiting for my cluster to get in from Chris now.  I’ve already got the hvac, lights, and 4x4 switch from a Sierra for under 40...  I’m wondering if I can just get the less in my radio swapped over for the skip pause play. I like the red much better.  Grew up gmc and Pontiac and this is my first Chevy.  I pulled apart my old HVAC unit and man that was fun to say the least.  Looking at the board those LEDs are in there really good.

Barman, Same here. My cluster should be here on Tuesday. I was lucky to have traded my Chevy blue switches for the red GMC switches from another great member here. We traded our screens as well. So I have all red, he has all blue. Except for my ORL headlight switch, which is still blue.  I cant wait till my cluster is installed.

Side note... anybody here have the red ORL headlight switch that might want to trade for blue?

So you were able to get a 2017 Denali cluster with the blue graphics in display with a 2014? Interesting. Ill bet all that cost a pretty penny though.
