If the vehicle is equiped with the e85 sensor and the vehicle is tuned with e85, when the price spread changes and you go back to running 87. Will the computer adjust as before or would a whole new tune need to be installed? If so, they what is different in gms tune that allows the switching back and forth?

A canned or custom tuner will be loaded with different tunes for different octanes.

A simple reflash with the tuner is required when switching from one to another. (takes a minute or two) 

IE.

87 tune when running 87

91 tune when running 91

E85 tune when running E85

 

I’m currently running a Blackbear 91 tune and switch between 91 and E85 regularly with out reflashing.  You could do the same with a 87 tune you just wouldn’t take full advantage of the E85.

 

The factory sensor tells the ECM how much alcohol is in the mix and the ECM adjusts the engine timing/fuel flow to match. The ECM has to compensate for anything from 87-100+ octane depending on the mix in the tank.

Got ya, reason why i am asking is because i installed a bullydog tuner for my 6.0 and it feels sluggish on the tune. Contacted them and they are useless as to its functionality. I only use e85 and debating on a dyno tune but dont wanna have to get a new tune each and every time i decide to go for 87 when the price spread is less than .75cents.
