Adding backup camera to I03 screen

My truck has the i03 4in screen and I am looking to add a backup camera. I have found conflicting awnsers on several sites as to what must be done. Some places say you have to upgrade to an io4. Has anyone here added a backup camera to their io3 system without upgrading to a io4 system?

I could have incorrect  information but I believe the plug and play is I06

when i researched adding backup cam to my 2014 every website told me that you must have at least an i04. you also have to check and see if your truck has the wiring in it some trucks dont. my truck had the wiring and i04 so i just had to buy the handle and camera and i used the obdgenie programmer. it was all under 400 bucks to get it working. i have since upgraded to the i05 and 8 inch screen, so if you need an i04 let me know you will still have to send it to someone like digitaldash solutions to have the vin changed to your vin and they charge 170 to do it
