Floor Jack Rebuild

Recommended Posts

This may be off topic, but here goes.

My trusty 2 ton floor jack has blown a seal. I would love

to rebuild it instead of buying a new one.

Does anyone have any advice on where to buy rebuilt

kits or get instructions on how to do a rebuilt.

Has anyone had a jack rebuilt before?

Thank You

Joe

Find a Hydraulic Hose and fittings shop in your area, and see if they have someone they can send you to, or do it for you. Possibly even a machine shop can clean up anything with grooves in them to help the new seals do their job.

Been there done that!!! The first question to ask is what kind is it? If it is a "Name" brand you can have pretty good luck getting it fixed but if it is an import best thing to do is just buy another one. I spent about 3 weeks chasing kits and o-rings and other things to rebuild one, and after everything was said and done first time I went to use it started to lift then puked :P it guts out again!!! I think I spent about $50.00 to "fix" it then bought a GM Goodwrech at O'Rileys for about $65.00 and that was 5 or 6 years ago and haven't looked back.

What would you recommend for maintaining a floor jack? I had an AC-DELCO that came in a case and broke. Now I've got a regular floor model. Is there oil to add or??
