Vehicle shipping question

I've used a couple of carriers in the past.  Both of them used enclosed trailers and called to let you know the progress.  However, they required the vehicle to run under it's own power.  Since many of these carry several vehicles, there is no guarantee that your car will be in the same spot unless you can buy the entire load.  It may be more expensive, but you can contract a flatbed to go and pick up the Camaro.

The last time I used Reliable (a national carrier), they were around $800 per vehicle from Texas to Florida.  This was about 7 years ago for a Viper.  A friend of mine had a '35 Ford brought down to NC a couple of years ago from Indiana on a flatbed for $400.  I have found the rates vary quite a bit.
