Rear premium floor mat issues...

Greetings Everyone,

I picked up my new 19 Silverado on Wednesday and I just can't simply figure out how the factory floor mats with the factory storage piece doesn't work. It's not even close.  What has anyone else done about this issue.  I don't really want to cut the rubber mat and don't know how accurately I can cut the rear storage piece.  Seems like a pretty obvious issue.  Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

Pyro

I removed the the rear storage unit. ( Three 10mm nuts)  Installed the mat and only had to trim the two 1/2" H X ~4" L ridge pieces from the back of mat on the passenger side.  They are easily trimmed with a exacto knife or scissors.  You will also have to drill a 3/8" hole in the mat on the driver side to match the storage unit screw in anchor location in the floor.  You can than reinstall the storage unit over the mat.

After the modification are you still able to easily remove the mats to clean them or do you have to remove the storage bin as well?  I ask because I removed the storage bin when I installed the liners.

I did the same thing as DougFL. If you want to remove them to clean them you would have to remove the storage bin. However I’ve cleaned mine just fine without removing them.

I agree.  Removing the storage bin for cleaning the carpet is not that hard.  However, given the complete coverage of the premium mats I expect there will be little need for additional cleaning.  You can always trim the mats to the edge of the storage bin for easy removal.  I prefer my way for the extra coverage/protection of the mat.

Would the chevy accessories storage box possibly be a solution for this issue?

I do not see how since either storage box would require some trimming of the mat in order to fit with a storage box.  Without any storage box they fit perfect without trimming.

Thanks for the info everyone.  Got the matts laid down under the rear bin with no issue.  I did notice under the matts there are cut marks that show to trim them around the starage bin.
