Loud clunk from transfer case

New to this forum but not to GM. Just purchased a 2018 Serria 4x4 6.2 Denali. The dealer was showing me the process to put transfer case in and out of neutral. When placing back into the drivetrain, a loud clunk occurred, the dealer stated this was normal. Sure did not sound normal to me. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Depends how loud. Mine makes noises when transitioning

Thanks for the response. I guess I’ll see what happens. It only makes the loud noise going back into the drive train.

Problem corrected.

I should have known better when the service person said the loud clunk was normal.

The engine needs to be running to get the transfer case into neutral yes. The engine needs to be not running but in the “run”position to place the transfer case back into the drive train.
