What’s the dome light wire in the 2019?

I’m trying to install led under dash so I can see at night when you drop something.  In my 2015 GMC AT the dome light wire was the grey wire on grey connector on the driver side.  On the 2019 GMC AT4 it all different. Anyone knows how I can tap on the dome light circuits?

Did you figure this out. I'm looking for the same thing to get my floor lights working this week.

Guys- still grey wire on passenger side in taped harness going up to overhead- the front dome has the controller in it so you grab the grey wire and it goes to positive hot when door is opened or when interior all on button is pushed.  About 3.5 amps left on circuit from stock.  Use a meter to find the wire, there are three in the vertical harness and it’s the largest of them, but still very small 20 gauge.  Cut and tap here and ground other side (Ground) of led Or bulb.

Which grey wire in that plug is it? I assume you're referring to the white plug closest to the driver seat. On the bottom row there are two grey wires, one closest to driver seat and another 2 pins down from there. Can you confirm which it is? (not my pic btw)

Yep. White connector. Third wire from the left. Should be gray in color.

That's the one.

Thanks again Mr. SmoothBassMan! Just need to figure out where to mount the strips now. Do you have a package that comes on/off at will as well as with the domes (such as the Opt7 Aura)? I am curious where you wired the full-time hot wire to as well. I've seen a couple different options from people doing them.

Do you know of a fuse that controls the dome light or will come on with the door open/car unlocked (like when the dome lights come on)? I'm hesitant to run the entire kit off that little grey wire and really want it on a fuse. I tried hooking up the door assist wire to that grey wire and it doesn't work, since the main power is wired to RAP. The only other spade I found in the passenger fuse box is always hot, and I don't want the kit leaching off the battery 24/7 as well. Kind of lost...

You don't need to run the kit off of the dome circuit. There's two sets of leads on the Opt7 kit. The main that goes into the barrel connector. This set should be fed from constant/accessory power.

The second set of leads are the aux circuit. They are the thin 24 gauge wires coming out of the control box. This set ties into the dome circuit to turn the lights white when you open the door.

The power for the kit comes from the main. The aux circuit is just a relay circuit that switches the lights white when that circuit is energized.

High level instructions are here.

Hope this helps.

Except if you do that you’re left with manually turning the kit off every time you leave the vehicle, which is more hassle than it’s worth. I tried it that way but truly disliked it other than the color switching when the door opens

Yeah I feel ya.

That's why I made a double relay circuit to do this for me automatically. Turns off when I'm not in the vehicle and pops back on automatically when I start the vehicle up.

There's a whole thread on here on how I did it.

How do these plugs on the soft panel come out? Don't want to ruin them if possible.

Lol yup. Flathead screwdriver or a fastener remover will do it. You can also use a fork
