AllterrainX440 Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 Does anyone know of any safety features built into the awd that would keep it in awd? I got in my truck last night and while the dial was clearly turned to 2wd the light was still on awd. Im wondering if it the dial wasn't lined up, its a faulty dial, or gm programmed something to know the road conditions were less than ideal.
300 Blackout Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Does anyone know of any safety features built into the awd that would keep it in awd? I got in my truck last night and while the dial was clearly turned to 2wd the light was still on awd. Im wondering if it the dial wasn't lined up, its a faulty dial, or gm programmed something to know the road conditions were less than ideal. The owners manual addresses this. The transfer case will not allow the vehicle to switch gears unless the procedure to switch gears is followed. For example, if you switched from Auto to 2wd while the vehicle was off or if you quickly switched back and forth from one setting to another before it had time to properly switch. For the 2014 model, in all of the above scenarios, the light would simply go out and only return once the dial is returned to whichever setting the transfer case is actually engaged in. On the more recent models, perhaps the light remains illuminated under these conditions rather than going out. I would simply switch the dial back to auto while the vehicle is running, then move it to 2wd and see if it switches.
