Virus emails HELP!

Ok over the past 3 days I have gotten over 150 emails that have an attachment (pif files) and I am about 99% its that darn virus going around. They are all over 100K and i have exceeded my inbox. How can I stop these? I have all my filters on and they still get through. This is happening on my yahoo account

Just delete them....see if you can do an e-mail block.

i can block every one but the problem each one has a different sender

But dont click on them to open the attachment.....My virus scan scans every incoming and outgoing e-mail.

goto here SoBig Removal Tool the virus is sobig, even if you scanned your machine and it came up clean, run the tool. the instructions are easy to follow, and it only takes about 10 minutes. My woman was getting about 200 emails a day, but her machine was clean, ran the tool, found the virus, removed it....no more emails.

Ryan, i've gotten them too, both here at home and at work. Its annoying to say the least. But just delete them...

Maybe it's time to switch to another email program I understand that outlook express is the # 1 highway for viruses. I use a Linksys wireless router that is a good protection from the worms but if an email attachment should slip througs I could be easily infected. I never open attachments.

That is what my dad uses for email for his job with Johnson & Johnson. The virus hit them, so they shut down everything, which for me means no email and no internet since the server we use runs through Johnson & Johnson.

 

Hence the reason as to why I was MIA for 9 days. Just got our connection back late last night, so I'm still catching up........read "post whoring."

I have gotten them too. Usually only 25 at a time though, so I just delete them all.

Im getting pretty sick of this crap too!! Norton has been scanning and deleting them all so far. Every time I come back to my computer I have like 20 deleted messages. It isnt necessarily your computer harboring the Sobig Worm. It is another persons machine that is infected and happens to have your email adress in therr adress book. Then it is being used as a recipient along with a whole lot of other adreses. I ran Symantecs Sobig Removal tool and my computer didnt apparently have the worm.

Are you blocking attatchments through your router? How do you have it set up? I wish I knew how to better set mine up, right now it has the factory settings still intact.

I dont know how they could have me in their address book. I am getting them from companies, people, schools, etc.

 

I ran that virus program posted above and i do not have it on my computer. I have been getting about 25 emails with attachments PIF files an hour which is ridiculous

I have gotten a whole bunch titled THAT MOVIE!! Getting kinda old!!!

yep i have gotten a bunch titled that movie and alot of em say RE: I have filtered the titles i get and they still get through

I use yahoo, and download it from their pop3 server, and run it though Nortons email scan, it has done a really good job to grab anything it finds and put it in quarentine before I get to it.

Yahoo also allows you to scan it with norton before you open in on the web too, so thats a pretty good tool.
