SHOULD I BUY TRUCK WITH LIFTER TICK?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm looking to buy a 2002 Silverado with 125k miles. Owner says it's had a lifter tick since 75k miles, and when he brought it in the mechanic said it's fine to drive just annoying. He says the tick stays the whole time the truck is on, not just when starting cold. Is there anything I should be looking for when buying this in terms of further damage that goes along with lifter ticking? Or is this a bigger problem in itself? Thanks!!

My 02,6 liter has it on and off,if I change oil below recommended change,it goes away,as long as no cel?purrs otherwise, worth a shot

If I didn’t buy a small block with a lifter tick, that would eliminate all of the 60s-90s and a few 5.3s.

Look at it this way... if you need to replace the lifters, rockers, and rods... it’s the perfect time for a cam swap to pick up a few extra hp!!!

Overall condition?

Price would be the first thing.

Take $2 K off Kelly Blue book?

Then can you do the repair or do you have to pay for it?
