More Updates!

Got the new 22s with the OEM tires mounted and bolted onto the car. Fitment is perfect, much closer to flush vs stock, but no poke.

Also, finished the front end of the Truck and re-assembled, cab and bedsides will be knocked out tomorrow as they are the easiest pieces.

I'm absolutely loving how the Shadow Black compliments the factory bronze accents along with the Satin Dark Basalt

When I first saw the 19s I was indifferent, and honestly I was dead set on a Ram Limited, but the standard air suspension drove me to Chevy. It grew on me after seeing the 19s in person, and I love the interior (aside from the small head unit).

Today I drove out to Southern California to my friends over at aFe Power to drop off my truck for R&D. Intake & exhaust are first, but they have plans for diff covers, headers, and more in store for this year. I will be keeping this thread updated, as well as one in the Engine section for the 2019s with dyno numbers, sound clips, and everything to keep people up to date as they develop new parts for this platform!

Sorry for the delay guys, but I have some updates!

The morning that I dropped off the Truck at aFe Power, I did a photoshoot with Concept One Wheels who sent over the 22s while I wait for my Off-Road goodies. Shots came out great, makes me want to do a lowered street truck build on a 19.

Ok guys, onto the aFe Power Development!

First off, the Cat-Back exhaust system. There will be two main Cat-Back style options coming to market in the coming weeks-months for the 2019 6.2L. The first is a retention of the OEM tips, as they are bolt on ends to the factory rear bumper, and separate from the OEM exhaust for those who like the look. The second option will be a quad tip exit in either a polished or black finish inside of the OEM bumper indents as pictured below (I will be running this option with black tips personally).

As for the sound, it is very noticeable vs. stock, but still fairly conservative. The reasoning behind this move is due to the new factory DFM engine management for fuel economy to prevent annoying noise drone on the freeway when it cuts to a 4 cyl configuration and it sounds like you're driving a honda civic with a fart can. The result is a very nice, hearty/deep tone. For full sound clip teasers with the stock tips including start, rev, and driving, watch the following video from their FB page:

Secondly, there will be more exhaust work coming soon! Once they have their finalized, production Cat-Back and prototype intake ready to test fit I will be back, and shortly there-after they are planning a Y-Pipe, and shorty headers for the truck to open it up some more and compliment their cat-back system for the truck. I will give more info about both of them as the time comes.

Last of all, while the truck was over at aFe they did mapping of the engine bay, and stock intake to start developing a CAI option for the truck to test when I come back in for the finished cat-back.

Did you do any base dyno numbers before the mods?

aFe Power will be doing a dyno run when I return the truck to get the final production exhaust installed.

Sharp looking truck!

Thread digging, but did you happen to take any pics of the inside of those wheels? Also what style lug nuts did you use with those wheels, conical, flat...?

I just picked up a set of those cs6.0 in a 22x9.5 with the +35mm offset. Kinda kicking myself for not going with the +18mm offset but got a screaming deal on the +35mm offset

    • If there are updates/fixes you want, you could pay to have the updates applied by the dealer.
    • Hi all - my current truck is a 2022.5 1500 High Country 3.0. I bought the truck used last year. After doing some digging, I noticed that my truck's software is stuck on the original build from 2022. I have no available software updates. I talked to my dealer about this and they recommended not trying to force an update since the 36,000 mile warranty is expired. This is a big bummer since there have been many major releases since that have fixed small issues and improved speed/usability.   For reference, the current software build number is: full_gminfo37_gb-user 10 W158E-W164.4.2-QIH22B-563.3 158 release-keys Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I just forget about it and move on, or try a different dealer?
    • Sure. Buy it for me 🤣
    • Using zip ties but 2-3 they snap due to sharp edges. Just using a shoestring. Last longer. 🤣
    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
