Your spare tire is useless unless you have it with you when you need it. I don't think people go around stealing spare tires. It's not that profitable.

I don't know what the bolt size is, but just giving you another perspective.

But would you pay for a spare tire, when you can just have it secure.... Just don't like it in the back of my truck bed that's all.

What bolt are you talking about? Not sure I am following what you have lost.

I took off the winch that holds the spare tire. In order to get it off, I had to unscrew a bolt. I lost the bolt and trying to find the bolt size? If that makes sense

It does, have you checked with a dealer to see if they know?

Might have to buy the whole assemble.

Why was it laying in the bed?

These trucks have locks in the hole to prevent it from unauthorized lowering if it's on the winch if that's a concern.

Personally, I hate the damn lock and I don't use them. I've never had someone steal my spare tire. It's just one more PITA when I have to change the tire.

For one, it's a plain 17" black steel rim, may even have surface rust. Hardly stylish. Second, it's a crummy Goodyear SR-A. Not exactly in high demand.

By that logic you are using, do you have wheel locks on at least one lug of every wheel? What if they put you up on blocks?

They told me its a M14 with 1.5 thread but haven't had luck find it at auto parts stores.

Type in the bolt specs, you'll find one. I am almost certain that General Motors is not making custom fasteners for something as silly as a spare tire winch.

You'll probably want an M14 with a flange on the head. Grade 8 or at least stainless.

You did not specify a length, but if you look under the truck, I'm sure you can estimate.
