derrik.kasinger Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 I just got a used rear end. It is 14 bolt on diff cover and cover is painted green if that helps any. Its 6 lug axles. The lettering on the axle tube is KHB G1991. The lettering on the gears are 2 gm 14012787 12 41 7 87. I believe this is a Dana 44 rear end but not sure of gear ratio. Any and all help will be appreciated. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
silveradosid Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 take the rear cover off and mark the crown gear, then turn the input yoke and count the number of turns it takes to turn the crown gear 1 complete revolution. if it is 3.73 ratio then it will take 3 and 3/4's of turns on the yoke
SierraHD17 Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 41 12 is the number of teeth on the crown (41) and the number on the pinion being 12. Divide those together and it's your gear ratio which is 3.42. Dana 44s have 10 bolts in the cover and not 14. Being a 14 bolt cover and 6 lug axles with 3.42s it's a 9.5" gm 14 bolt. Super common rear end.
