Throttle Body cleaning

Has anyone took apart their throttle body to actually clean it? I remember doing it all the time on my 03 silverado but I haven't thought about it on my 15 Sierra (72K miles). Is it even necessary in these trucks or worth the hassle?

I’ve done it on my ‘15 Sierra twice now (46k miles), it’s rather easy to do. I usually do it when I change my engine air filter.

This is what mine looked like at 25-30k

I'm at 46,000 on my 15. Does this really make that big of a difference? I have not done anything but oil changes and truck still runs great.

I never really notice a before and after difference. Some people have mentioned it can smooth out the idle. It’s just peace of mind for me.

Thats my concern, does it make a difference on MPG or idle? Im at 73K but I dont think its worth doing in my parking lot if not needed?

How dirty was it prior to cleaning it, was it caked on? Anyone running a catch can?
