I save about 90% of all the state quarters I recieve in change...  Tonight for something to do my 9 year old and I sorted them out.

The most I have is VA with 64 quarters, and the least is Tenn with 9.  I have a total of 523 state quarters thrown in a box in my dresser...

I try to collect 1 or 2 of each state, but if I don't have any "Plain" ones in my pockett then there's a good chance I'll spend some of them.

Interesting tidbit here.

Due to the Econmy drop after 9\11, the US Mint wasn't consistent with the numbers of quarters they produced per state, so the actual number of Quarters for each state out there varies.

Virginia had the most Quarters produced, and either Vermont or Deleware had the least.

I two sets of all of them so far, one set with the D for Denver and one with the P for Philly.  My mom has matching sets too.  We get most of them in change, but occassionally friends from the east coast will send us some they find with the P, since it is hard to get those out west here.  We might be missing one or two, but basically have complete sets, and for some reason my mom has a ton of extras.

My son has one of those US maps that you place each state coind in the spot for each state.  I have an 11x14 board with a place for each coin that I plan on framing once I get all 50.

My sister has one of those map things for them.  If I have one she needs I'll give it to her, other than that I'll spend them, I don't care that much, a quarter is a quarter.

I have a set in the Littleton Custom Coin album made especially for the 50 State Commemorative Quarter Series.  And I only keep one of each, but I am collecting change for my wedding basket, so if Shaners wants to send me some of his extras, that'd be fine.   :D

I save a few of them if they're in great condition, but from a appreciation in value standpoint they'll never be worth much more than 25c due to the high amount that are being produced.  It is fun to look for new ones though and see what each state comes up with for it's design.

If you want to order mint or proof sets from the US Mint:

US Mint Catalog

You can get high-quality mint and proof sets as well as other coin sets that are in alot better condition than circulated coins and have a better chance to increase in value as time goes by.  I don't think the 2002 sets are out yet, but you can pick up the older sets on ebay.  The 1999 proof coin sets from the mint have nearly tripled in market value.

That explains why I have so many VA quarters.  I have 11 Vermont and 15 Deleware...
