Adding an amp

I hear what you are saying. I have another amp and sub on the shelf, duplicate of what I have installed, but it would way overpower the mids and highs. I may leave it alone, it sounds well balanced and I can adjust the gain on the fly if I want.

Bonneville Labs & Acoustic Measures is a company started by Guy Boneville. He is a previous engineer at focal who went on to do his own thing.  signatire or series are great

The subwoofer I’m looking at is an Audison APBX 10” single coil that comes mounted in an enclosure.  It should fit easily under the 40 side of the back seat.  

My installer told me he can “dial in” the sound using a laptop connected to the amp and the associated software, in conjunction with an array of 5 microphones placed inside the cab.  This allows him to tweak the individual channels/speakers.  He also told me he will do a “time alignment,” to obtain the optimal sound when I’m not sharing the music with someone in the passenger seat.  A switch will allow me to toggle between the two settings. 

Things sure have changed since I put in my own car stereos during my high school days.

No no. You use 1 mic. You use an rta and place it in thr area where youll be (drivers head rest) and tune it from that

Tuning from every seat is the dumbest thing ive ever heard

Sound like you have a shop that is willing to go that next step. Good luck with it all, will be awesome I am sure.

You are correct regarding placing the “mic” at the passenger headrest for the time delay to achieve the optimum listening environment for the driver.  

However, the 5 microphone array I eluded to is a separate adjustment from the driver seat adjustment.  The five microphones are contained in single unit which is placed in the center of the cab.  The individual speakers/channels are then calibrated for the best overall sound throughout the interior cabin area. 

As far as tuning from every seat being the dumbest thing you’ve every heard, I also agree. But nobody said that but you.

You dont need an array. 1 single mic in the center id youre building the vehicle for everyone. Not just a 1 seater like im building.

There’s a lot of things I don’t understand in this world.  For whatever reason, that’s the set up they use at this particular establishment.

A reasonable request.

You bring up a valid point about why 5 in lieu of 1. 

I will elicit more info and take a picture of their “mic” setup when I take my truck back to them.
