Transmission shift lever issue

Recommended Posts

My 2017 Silverado recently is having a stiff transmission shift lever.  It shifts out of park just fine but is very stiff going from neutral to drive and drive to low and vice versa.   Haven't had any service on this truck since new other than oil changes and tire rotations.

The stiffness seems to be getting worse every day.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be.

My 2017 just started doing this the other day. Except mine won’t even shift into Low. Going from drive to reverse or park is very hard. Pretty frustrating to have another tranny issue and I’m only at 15k miles. Looks like I’m calling the dealer again tomorrow.

Mine won't go into low now either.   Only 20k miles on mine.  Dealer going to look at it Friday, if it makes it that far.

Any luck from the dealer? Mine goes in Wednesday.

My 17 did this around 5000 miles, very stiff and wouldn’t go into low at all, took it in they replaced shift cable and all had been good, apparently there was some rust in the hole the cable goes into the trans

Turned out to be a seized shift cable.

Dealer said lower half wouldn't move at all.

Good as new now with entire cable replaced.

That’s good to hear. I’m assuming that’s what’s wrong with mine too. Thanks for the update!
