2014 Sierra jerks on first go

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 4 x 4 lifted truck. Trying to figure out what it is. At the first start up,  when I accelerate the truck jerks two times and then it feels fine. When I brake and accelerate again, nothing. What could be the problem? Is it the slip yoke bad? You joints bad? I don’t know, you tell me. Thanks

Gotta look for lash in the drive train somewhere.

Could be be internal trans...does it do it in reverse?

have you opened up the rear end to look around?

Nothing happened! So it’s a transmission problem?

So it DIDN'T lunge in M5.

I wouldn't say you have a transmission problem exactly. I'm sure you have noticed that when you start your truck from cold, the idle is faster than once it's warmed up. This combined with the V4/V8 confusion in the computer can make it lunge like that. This is one of the reasons people like to use the Range modules or to have V4 disabled by a tune to eliminate the driveability problems induced by it.

Thanks so much. But if I bought a tuner/ chip. Think that would solve it? Or even taking it into auto zone to clear out the computer

Autozone clearing any codes won't solve anything. If the truck is started cold, and you shift to drive, it's entirely possible the higher idle is gonna make it lunge. My old 93 TBI Chevy would do the same thing but less noticeable because that TBI 350 wasn't anywhere near as strong as the 5.3 they have now. And as I said earlier, it's already trying to decide whether it is going to V4 or 8.

You can always remote start from your phone to skip the warmup period when you get in. Or, shift to M5 instead of D. Or get the plugin/tune and forget all about V4.
