My transmission went out in my 15 Silverado high country 4wd. Instead of taking it to get it rebuilt i found a 18 model 6l80e 4wd trans with low miles. Can I install this trans to my truck? I was told there were differences between the years but they couldnt elaborate on what the differences were.

I know for sure that you will require that the TCM be programmed to your truck/VIN so everything matches.

 

Also possible the transmission cooling line thermostat connection is different on the 2015 truck compared to a 2018 truck. I've seen video's and pictures of 2014-2015 trucks that were different than my 2016 for example.

My crossover book shows '17 & '18 interchange, but excludes <'17. My book shows '14 - '16 interchange, but with Tow Pkg. (option code NHT) differs from without NHT.
