Is it possible to swap a 4.3l v6 for a 4.8 or 5.3 l v8

Anything is possible ... but the question you should be asking is, "Is it easy?" The answer to that is a resounding, "NO."

 

To make your life easier with today's computer-controlled junk, make sure if you get a used engine, you get EVERYTHING with it - injectors, throttle body, wiring harness, computer and even the transmission. That will make for the easiest possible swap.

The 4.8 would be less HP and the 5.3 is 55 more. Make it E-85 compatible. Tunes, maybe a gear change etc.
