Oil sensor screen without manifold

I was hoping to clean the screen at the oil pressure sensor, found an old thread that said remove throttle body, take out screen etc but as far as I can see the inlet manifold has to come off.

 

I cut the end off an Allen key to get it on the screen plug but just gave up as I can't see how there will be room to remove anything due to the bottom of the manifold being directly above it.

 

Am I missing something & if not how difficult is removing manifold, will it need a new gasket? Alternatively should I just add some flushing agent next oil change?

Does anybody bother doing this? If anyone has can you let me know if the manifold has to come off & was there much in the way of gunk on the screen?
