Cut tire

This morning going to work I met a school bus on a country road. I got off to the side of the road enough for him to get through, passenger side tires just off the edge of the road. Friday night a small tornado went through the area & there was a decent size tree branch off the side of the road, with the broken part right where my tires were heading. Thud, hisssssss, hisssssss, hisssssss, hisssssss, stop the truck, hisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. There is now a 2.5"-3" gash in the side of my 285/75/16 BFG All Terrain TA on the front. So I go to get the tool out of the truck to change the tire. The bracket that holds the wheel chocks is cross threaded or something & it takes me about 20 minutes just to get that MF’er off. What a pain in the a$$. Once I get it out I then look for the parts to raise the jack & loosen lug nuts. Where the h3ll are they?!!! Oh under the flap behind the rear seats. So I have to take my daughters car seat out to get to it. AHHHHH! So I get it jacked up & go to pop off the lug nut cover. Hmmm, won't come off. Ahh I have to loosen the 8 plastic lug nuts that connect to the lug nuts. Then I loosen 8 lug nuts. What was I thinking when I bought a truck with 8 lug nuts. Ahhhh, so I put it all back together & head to work & then to Tire Barn. They replace the tire & all I have to pay for is the road hazard warranty on the new tire. I have never used it before but now I am glad I had it.

Always good when you don't have to take a hit in the pocket for a bad situation. Fortunately the tire shops I deal with have good coverage.
