stnls Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 I have a 2018 equinox with the 1.6L turbo diesel. I am wondering why the towing capacity is so low. The 2.0L has a towing capacity of 3500 lb mine is only 1500 lb 2000 lb less. why. Is this diesel so weak. The torque specs for the two engines are very similar 240 for the 1.6L and 258 for the 2.0L. Where is the difference that requires a 2000 lb difference in towing capacity. Is Chevrolet just being over cautious?
davester Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 maybe it's the transmission, transfer case (particularly if it's AWD) or the size/ratio of the rear diff?
