Kicker Subwoofer Wire Tap Help

Recommended Posts

I'm about done installing the underseat kicker subwoofer kit. I have the Bose system. I'm unable to find the 2 speaker wires (yellow and yellow/black twisted pair) that Kickers says to tap into. The only yellow twisted pair i can find in the bundle that runs in the passenger cable channel is a yellow/black and yellow/gray as you can see in the picture. Kicker customer service doesn't open until Monday but i figured enough people have this installed to ask. Anyone who has installed run into this issue? Any help appreciated.

I did it yesterday. Think I see it in your pic. It's an intertwined pair of wires. One solid yellow, one yellow and black. Look just right of that red/white wire.

I used the yellow/black and yellow/gray wires for my install. I put the yellow/black wire on the negative post, not 100% positive that’s correct but i had no issues and it sounds good.

Yes, i did. All the twisted wires you see are speaker wires going to the various speakers. The kicker taps into the front right speaker which is the yellow & yellow/black. My truck was yellow/gray & yellow/black which is what i taped into. I don't know why the color on mine was slightly different but i did verify what i taped into was the right front speaker by adjusting the fader to see the response.

I emailed kicker support about this and their response was "with the radio on but not playing, you should see 6v DC. With music playing, you should see AC". I didn't see 6v DC, more like 1-2v but i think it varies with volume. You can check with a multi-meter first or if you are feeling more adventurous, just wire it in and play around with the fader to confirm you taped into the right speaker.
