MyGMC App

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I’m not sure where it should go. I bought a new 2019 Yukon XL Denali one month ago. I set up the MyGMC app on my phone so I could use the remote features. The  app was disabled today and all I see in the remote commands section is the ability to “upgrade now.”  So we really only get one month of the app without paying now? The app worked with my 2015 Sierra for 5 years until I traded it in and I didn’t pay for OnStar. Did GM stop allowing the app to work out out OnStar. What a crock!

Yep. Gm stopped the 5 year free for remote start. If you haggle you can get it for around 9 bucks a month. In order to get the 3 month free trial period a credit card is required to be on file. What I did was give them a prepaid one with a few bucks on it just incase I didn’t want the service after 3 months. I have heard stories about people getting billed after they cancel. But I like the remote feature and kept it for the “special” rate.

Everything said above is true.  The only thing you can do is pay for the "Remote Access" plan.  It is advertised at $14.99/month or $149.99 if you pay for the whole year but if you negotiate with them they will eventually offer $99 if you pay for the whole year in advance.  After taxes it comes out to a little under $9 per month.

Thanks for the replies. That’s a shame. The app is a nice feature but it’s not worth it to me to pay for it. I don’t use it much so I won’t be paying. Likewise, I don’t pay for navigation updates. My phone provides better navigation features and I can use CarPlay to see it on my screen.

I too just was made aware of this with the purchase of a new 2019 Sierra in addition to my 2017 Sierra. The 17 has 5 years, the 19 has 3 months. Wow.

I would sooner order the keypad to unlock the doors before I paid that price.

I am curious if I even need it as the vehicle has the pushbutton start and will not lock the doors with the keys inside. Not sure of the value.

To me, it's nice but kind of a gimmick. The key fob remote start has pretty good range.

I did subscribe to the remote start feature. I use it all the time because the range for the remotes suck (at least mine do). I can be in my house and can’t start my car with the key fob. So I just use my watch to start the car and get confirmation it’s started.
