Torsion bar keyway

Howdy:

I have seen a 2"-3" (claimed) front end "leveling kit" on the internet for the 1998-series K2500, but the application is limited only to the 5 or 6 lug trucks.

Anybody know of such a kit for the 8 lug trucks?

The GM parts guy says the OEM parts are different between the two product lines.

I would like to lift my K2500 about that much in front without spending $1500 more or less for a 4" lift.

You can get an inch or two by cranking up the torsion bars on the front end. Some people here have installed F*rd keys in their new body style trucks to aid in a little more lift. I don't know if those torsion bar keys would fit on an old body style.

I don't know what the hub has to do with a torsion bar key, so I can't answer your initial question. I installed what's commonly referred to as the "green keys" which are made by GM and do the EXACT same thing that the ones you saw advertised do. gmpartsdirect.com sells them for about $15 a piece, but they rape you on the shipping costs. Their PN is 15592573, but I don't know if they'll fit the OBS.

Do a forum search on this topic and you'll find a ton of info about it.

I just cranked on the ones that were in there. Raised the front up a little under 2 inches. Sits even now...

No need for the Ford keys...

Didnt notice any difference in the ride...
