Hey all,

So I've been looking at a 1983 gmc jimmy that's for sale nearby, it is in extremely good condition for a very low price and has very very little rust. I was wondering where i could find additional information on these vehicles? Perhapse a stickied thread on this particular year range? I would like to learn more about it . It is listed as having a 3.0L v6. I cant find anything about a gas engine of these specifications ever appearing on these cars, maybe they meant 2.8l? Just wanted a resource of some kind to assist me in figuring these things out and figuiring out potential problem areas thanks a lot.

Well i was originally looking for an old 4x4 to daily drive but i came upon this and am finding it difficult to overlook a potential deal. I live in Canada and was going to drive it year round after a thorough rust proofing of the entire vehicle. So either daily year round or refurb a bit and resell.

They must of made a typo. That year and makes either had a 2.4 l (4Cyl), 2.8l % 4.2l (V6). 2.8l were strictly 2 wheel drive only. The only 3.0l engine that were out were in the cars of that time.

Any idea how it is in term of reliability and relative performance? I have heard bad things from Cherokee owners with this engine i believe

reman meaning re-manufactured? Also probably used the wrong word when saying performance lol. Just dont wanna buy a junker engine.
