Battery dead

I dont really understand these batteries. My wife's 2011 acaida still has original battery in it. Almot 9 years old. My 15 Sierra battery barley made it little over 4 years...dead.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with these new fuel saving alternators in these trucks only keeping it barely charged enough to start the truck. Over a few years that can lead to premature failure of the battery. My first one died in 12 months and the second died in 3 years.
