I hope I am wrong but, I think they are engineered to fail just after the warranty runs out. 36 month battery last just a touch longer than 36 months. They make good money selling these things.

And there are really only a handful of battery manufacturers. They just re-label them for whomever wants a battery.

I have two vehicles that have after market alarms. If I don’t drive or charge them every two weeks they wouldn’t start. They fail completely in two years. My daily’s usually go 4-6 years. This is in south Texas heat.

Talk about irony. We have been on vacation for a week or so. My truck hasn't been driven in a few weeks. I went to move it today and it barely started. WEAK battery! I was just going to wash it. I put my charger on it and after about 2 hours it says BAD BATTERY. I will have had the truck 4 years on October 23rd. It is a 2014 truck but I bought it from the dealer on Oct. 23, 2015. Could be the original battery.....I"ll have to check the date when I get it out.

Yet my ‘84 is only on its 3rd battery in its life. My ‘86 just received its 4th (after 7 years). Yay for voltage draw.

Me too!  The added time if any on your new battery probably not worth the price imo.

One thing I love about my other car ( 2015 f150 ) “only one thing “ ,when the battery is low it gives you like 2 days of continuous notification and alarms that the battery is bad - not die all of a sudden like this

hmm..I like that!  You would think by 2019-2020 we would be able to have a digital readout or computer constantly reading battery voltage and algo's to when the dummy light finally comes on and you know it's probably couple more starts before DEATH!  With the K-2's you get NADDA...just death!

I dont really understand these batteries. My wife's 2011 acaida still has original battery in it. Almot 9 years old. My 15 Sierra battery barley made it little over 4 years...dead.

My beater is still on the same battery I had installed when I bought it used in 2009. I had them replace it because the original was weak. But 10 years of Wisconsin winters later, it still starts fine. And that car is not driven daily, more like 3x a week. My wife got 8 years out of her old car battery, too. I've only had to replace a couple batteries in 20 years of driving. Seems like they care able to last a long time as long as it doesn't start out defective.

Yup. I have a Deka AGM I bought back in 2008 for my SRT8 Charger and ended up being too tall so it never went in the car.  It's been my winch battery for my trailers ever since and it doesn't get charged on the trailer... only off the charger in the shop.  Still perfect... pulled my K5 on the trailer the other day with it lol.  If I don't get 7 to 10 years from a battery it was junk.

I replaced the battery today. It may have been the original to my truck. The battery was manufactured on 12/05/14. My truck is a 14 but I purchased it in October of 15. $174.75 and it should start for some time.

One thing that I was surprised about is I had the battery out of the truck for over 2 hours. When I started it up, the radio presets were still set and the temp settings were as I left them.

I've seen quite a few of the new, super expensive AGM batteries failing prematurely. Most batteries have a 18-30 month warranty with an even longer pro-ration.

GM did a re programming after the battery change - they said lots of functions may fail if not reprogrammed

That's weird. I was really worried about that because I love my TuneSelect (got the max number of saves allowed) so I used a saver cord and hooked up my DieHard out of my Cadillac. Worked like a charm.
