2018 Sierra 1500 question

I bought a new to me 2018 Sierra Z71 crew cab. The emblems on the side of the truck say "Sierra Z71 Prograde Edition". I asked the dealer and they had no clue and I have not been able to find anywhere what the Prograde edition is or even find any prograde emblems. Does anyone here have a clue what that is?  Thanks.

Welcome to the site.

Does this look like what you have for options, looks like a Canadian truck:

GMC Pro Grade Package

  • SLE models includes Infotainment Package I and Driver Alert Package I content and power sunroof
  • SLT includes Infotainment Package II, Driver Alert Package I and Driver Alert Package II content and power sunroof
  • Denali includes Driver Alert Package II and Advanced Safety Package content and power sunroof
Posted

Found this one too:

GMC Pro Grade Package

  • SLE-2 includes Driver Alert Package I content, power sunroof, 8" diagonal Colour Touch Screen with GMC Infotainment System1, Trailering Package and Universal Home Remote
  • SLT-1 includes power sunroof, 8" diagonal Colour Touch Screen Navigation with GMC Infotainment System1 and Trailering Package
  • Denali includes Technology Package content, power sunroof and Chassis continuously variable real time damping

. 1 Full functionality requires compatible Bluetooth® and smartphone, and USB connectivity for some devices. Data plan rates may apply.

Nope, I do not have the driver alert package or a sunroof.....

Hmmm, maybe someone liked the badges and stuck them on?

PM GM customer service on the site here with your VIN #, they will provide you a build sheet to see exactly what trim level your truck is.

Build sheet will have all standard and option RPO codes.

You can also use a QR reader on the little decal on the inside of your driver door to see info about the truck.

Welcome to the forum.  A quick Google comes up with possible answers.  I'd be a little bothered by my salesman not providing this information!  You're paying him/her to sell you this product.  My truck came with "Kodiak" badges and I was given the choice to have them on or off.  There are many little packages that are specific to a region or trim level and a call to GM customer services will help you determine whether or not you wish to keep advertising that your truck is  "Prograde"  equipped!

Thank you, I will try that and see what I can find out.

I googled everything I could possibly think of and could not find anything, so a 'quick google' didn't help me out any. And as far as advertising that my truck is Prograde equipped is not going to bother me regardless of whatever the package is.... Thank you though.

When I googled gmc sierra prograde edition it gave a couple of ideas.

GMC Pro Grade Protection provides owners of new GMC vehicles with two complementary maintenance visits within 2 years or 24,000 miles of your vehicle lease or purchase, whichever comes first.

I suspect the badges are for their trailering package that can be found on the '19's but maybe appeared on some 18's?

I saw those things when I googled, but it does not have the trailering package.....

Hopefully, a call to GM with your VIN will solve your mystery.  The possibility exists that the only added feature is the badge itself.   This reminds me of the day my wife accompanied me to pick up our new Sierra SLE.  The salesman and I were discussing whether I wanted the "Kodiak" badges on or off.   My wife interjected and asked if we could also add a couple of "Denali"  badges. (She says she simply likes the name!)    The salesman said he would provide the Denali badges but I declined. ?

Could you post a picture of the badge? I can't find a photo of a Prograde edition truck online. I am thinking it may have been a fanboyish previous owner just ordering a custom badge based off of the GMC slogan "Professional Grade". Could be wrong, but the only thing I can find about 'Prograde' and GMC is the new 2019's 'Prograde' Trailering system. I am pretty familiar with Canadian spec trucks, I am through the dealer often and never seen one.

This is exactly what I was thinking ?...I’m in Canada and I can honestly say I’ve never heard the term “ ProGrade “.   But yes, I know that the “Professional Grade “ term has been around quite awhile....

Professional grade was their "moniker" for the Denali line up for the K2's in the USA.

They even had commercials showing the SF Giants and their trucks together a couple of years ago.
