Help Me!

First problem, I got my transmission rebuilt and took it up to the mountians to test out the four wheel drive which works except there's a clunking that you can feel on the floor but not the steering wheel every time you turn it left or right. It's not making the noise in two wheel drive. Think it might be the transfer case but that's just a guess.

Second problem, the horn on my truck, a 1990 Sierra 1500, came off and for some reason it's not going back on and working. Does anyone know how to fix it???

a possible answer for you on the first problem-

did the yokels who did the tranny work even bother to tighten the cross member bolts?

i ask this because i recently had my truck in for transmission repair under the warranty that GM gave me back in '00 which covered the truck for up to 100K mi., and they replaced the tranny with a remanufactured unit.

2 days after getting the truck back, i returned to work and with a load going through the mountains, i too felt and heard knocking beneath my feet.

went to inspect the cause and low and behold, there was the crossmember in place with hand tightened bolts...............in other words, the nuts were just barely started on the threads, as you cannot thread them all the way without the use of tools.

somewhere i would suspect that the mechanic(s) left some work undone.
