Trailer Connection

Every time I tow my travel trailer. I get the message on the dash, trailer connected, check trailer wiring, then trailer brakes are working. Then the same messages come up and trailer brakes aren’t working. Keeps happening last time we towed the trailer I lost count at 55 times. Dealer has checked it out with no codes coming up.

I had the SAME thing happen to me. Turned out it was a faulty brake wire running through the axle tube. It had rubbed through and was shorting out. Replaced it with a wire outside the tube and no issues since.

Check to make sure you have a good ground connection on the trailer itself.  Like the person above said it could be a wire on the trailer that is either broken or intermittently shorting on the trailer frame.  Ground connections have a tendency to rust so that would be my first inspection point.  It could also be a loose wire in the trailer connector (trailer side).
