Here is how my weather strip sits at the front.  This keeps me pretty peak free.

Yours is much thinner than the one that came with mine. Here's a pic of how thick mine is and how it looked e968f6f5606112807129478e9e454534.jpg

That chunky stuff is hideous!  That is part of your problem for sure.

See if they will send you thinner and/or swing by Home Depot and snag some.  I will tell you that with the spray in bed liner, you have to be patient with getting the weather stripping on and a helper is key.  One I got it kinda stuck on there and the front flap over it, no problem at all and its a good seal, but getting it to stay put was a challenge.

My corner seals have been tight, but I have some black silicone ready in case they decide to stop.  I'd likely but some electrical tape down and put it over top it so I didn't have to apply straight to the liner.

Last tip, wait until the middle of the day and get in it and close your tailgate.  Not only look for light, but this is the perfect time to line your bed cover up so it is as close to the tailgate as possible so that it still open and releases cleanly.  Once you have that lined up, crawl up to the front and really tighten down the front to lock it in place.  The first time I installed I left it short on the back  to allow the power tailgate to function and it let in a ton of water.  After tinkering and adjusting the fit, I have a pretty good seal and am happy with it to date.
