2003 GMC 2500 Odometer Jumped 100K!

When this truck's battery went bad it was time to change it and when I did it jumped from 97k to 197k. I did some searching and found no info on this, as if I am the lucky owner of the only vehicle this has ever happened to.

Id be interested to learn if there is anything that can be done about it, or if has ever happened before.

One possible interesting fact that may or may not be responsible, is when I replaced the battery, I found that the negative screw on the cable is stripped, and at the moment, I have it kinda twisted in there haphazardly until I can get under the truck to replace the cable. I tried once already, but the started is really up under there, and I was unable to get it to unsieze itself from the starter after about 20 minutes and gave up and will have to try again later. I mention this because, at the moment, after about every five trips or so, (it's been about a month since Ive switched out the battery), the cable will get loose, and the vehicle will not start, and I have to pop the hood and twist it back in there. I suppose I'll go try and get that cable back off and replace it here shortly.

Anyway, it was kinda a drag for the odometer to jump like this, but it obviously doesn't effect performance, just value, as I was hoping to trade it in.

Haven't heard of that happening.  Only thing related to that is the engine hour meter does sometimes reset (it did on my truck shortly before I bought it, the truck has 198k km, but only 3xx engine hours).
