I was hoping somebody could tell me but after many hours talking to shops and steering box shops it has come down to just eliminate the evo system. ACDelco has a power steering pump #36P1650 that you do not have to buy the bypass tube for. And to fine tune further you can install a steering box for a 1996 to eliminate the slight variations in steering. Thats it and you are safer than when the evo system starts to go wacky.

Usually had limited success with replacing power steer pump and flushing out old dirty fluid with new then sort bleeding it by jacking front of truck up on stands and continuously turning wheels max left to max right several times try that and good luck
