Newb: Lift & Wheel Questions for 2016 1500 Denali

Please forgive the newbness. I searched the forum and couldn't find the info I was looking for, so here we are....

I'm scooping up a 2016 1500 CC Denali and I'm looking to work on it right away. I'm looking at the Rough County 7" suspension lift in order to fit 35s/325s, the RC traction bars to limit axle wrap, some 20" Fuel Contra or Assaults on 35s/325s, and possibly some Bora hub-centric adapters to widen the wheelbase and flex the stance a little.

I'm looking for any feedback on that potential build. What have the reviews been on that lift, how wide I can go with those adapters with that lift and wheel combo, what kind of offset will I require, etc?

I've included links to the products I'm looking at, and a pic of the overall look and stance I'd like to recreate.

I like where you’re going with this! Let’s start with the lift if you want to go 7 inches or 7-9 inches (because it’s adjustable) the McGaughys lift is a much better lift overall and almost the exact same price. It has true 7 inch drop crossmembers so you’ll keep some good CV angles, fabricated blocks and in my personal opinion it’s more aesthetically pleasing to look at. You can also even upgrade to their Premium lift (around $1700) with diff cover, LCA stabilizers/crossmember stabilizers  or premium SS package (around $2200) for some cool little stainless accents and it comes with torsion struts with that upgrade (those look like traction bars for your front crossmember but in reality are keeping your crossmembers held true in position with this additional reinforcement and take some stress off the OG LCA ear mounts). They also have some really nice traction bars that you can add depending on what your Wallet is looking like. As far as the wheels go whatever design you like my friend is going to look amazing on your truck I would probably opt for a wider wheel to get that look as opposed to adding spacers but if you do add spacers Bora is the way to go. If you’re sure you’re going with 20s (I only say because those are probably 24’s if not at least 22’s in that picture you posted) maybe a 20 x 12 or 20 x 14 to get that wide stance and then you’re not adding an additional point of possible failure. If you’re running 12 or 14 wides you’re definitely going to want to be up at least 7 inches so that you’re not having to hack into the steel portion of your bumper running 35’s.

I just bought the same lift kit for my truck but the basic 7"-9" around $1500 shipped to your door.

Listen to what he said he's taking a different lift off his truck and replacing it with the McGaughys.

Go to CustomOffsets.com

I bought my wheels and tires and lift kit with them. Best prices on the www

Appreciate your feedback. I'll definitely look into the McGaughys lift as a potential option. My girl has some discount hookup at RC, which is the main reason I was looking there, but I'm all about knowing what my options are and would generally rather pay a little more for quality.

I like the idea of more rubber, so 12" width sounds great, but I'm not familiar with size limitations and amount of lift required to clear things, so I defaulted to 20x10, with the bora adapters. I ran a set on my Titan yrs ago and loved them, but if I could achieve a similar stance with more wheel and rubber and forego the adapters, that would obviously be preferable. I dig the flex of the truck in the reference pic, which is primarily what I want to recreate more or less, but with less wheel face. I could see possibly going with 22x12's if they'll clear, but can't see myself going up to 24's. Aesthetics are subjective, and that much wheel face isn't really my thing.

Thanks again for the feedback. If you think I'm good to clear 22 or 20x12's on 7(ish) inches of lift, I'll definitely see what the options are down that path.

Thanks for your feedback as well. My biggest concern is buying a bunch of shit and running into fitment issues with the lift/wheel/rubber combo.

So the two things about the RC lift that are negatives is that the drop crossmembers are not true to lift size so you’re going to get more angle on your CV shafts (i’m assuming your truck is four-wheel-drive) which isn’t the end of the world but it’s putting stress that you don’t necessarily need. The other is more negative for you and what you’re trying to do is that this RC kit is a lift bracket kit not a lift knuckle kit so it keeps your track with the same as stock as to where a knuckle kit will actually push your track with out about an inch and a half. So just something to think about.

as far as the wheels go running a 22 x 10 with 2 inch wheel spacers or running a 22 x 12 is basically the same thing as far as fitment to your vehicle and turning clearances. If you like the look of what a 22 x 10 or 20 x 10 looks like on your truck then go with that but adding the wheel spacer you might as well just do a 12 wide. I’m not sure what you’re referring to as flex only because when I hear that term I think of suspension, like a lot of the guys with really big crazy four link suspension setup’s have a lot of flex with their trucks because they can pick up one side of their rear end with a forklift and it doesn’t flip their truck over. But if you’re looking for that stance or that track with there’s really no way around Some modification for clearance if you’re set on that. You will definitely be doing some light bumper trimming I don’t know if it would be as drastic as in the picture but I would imagine there would be at least some. I’m on a total of 9 1/2 inches of lift currently and I have 22x12’s with 35s on but only had to do some very light plastic trimming which I’ll show you in a picture but I guarantee you would have definitely more plastic trimmed off and possibly get into just the corner of your actual bumper with 7. Which it is also part of the reason why I recommended the adjustable 7-9 McGaughys for clearance.B5A50A28-DB6E-4AD8-AF26-697A0563DB1C.thumb.jpeg.c4641c1fface5ec058b6ee5109c27e93.jpegE2B2E017-95D3-4022-8646-3BBAC6979628.thumb.jpeg.72f27c25c05f0d7f4dffb24586a34900.jpegFCD6046A-C9A2-44B7-AEAB-B38B2BDEE8BE.thumb.jpeg.91c7dbaa39517e0f4528396c7e28c18b.jpeg
