I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 5.3 8 speed trans. I’m wondering what is going on with my truck about every few days after driving normal engine light comes on after clearing codes again. I get p0700 and p0711. Today i checked my trans fluid temp at idle it reads 117 and driving normal it reads like 106. From what i see most people is around 180 190. Any ideas?

Well, what effort did you put into figuring out what those codes meant?

p0700 is a generic "something is wrong with the transmission, you need a scanner that can read the tcm to get the actual problem codes"

p0711 indicates something is wrong with the transmission temperature circuit

Perhaps that second one, along with your temperature readings, gives you some indication as to what is happening.

I did look at the codes everyone said something different. I was just seeing that it was a sensor from other people. But one other thing that happens when the check engine light comes on and i start coming to a stop i have a borla exhaust and it slightly pops and rumbles sounds good actually but i know it probably shouldn’t.

Cainanhunt, I just posted this on another post as I have high temps on my transmission as well. Going through the lemon law process now. This was given to me by GM. See attached

I don't have the original, GM sent this over as a PDF to my arbitrator during my Lemon law case . I tried to locate it online but could not. If you or someone finds a good copy, let me know.

Step #1....Buy box of approved Mobil 1 LV ATF HP blue label!   Step #2 Purchase wiring harness from AC-Delco for 80.00 that has temp sensor for trans.

Step #3 wait for it to arrive or buy from local from dealer.  Step #4 remove the bolts from 8L90 drop pan.  Remove the filter and replace if you desire and O-ring!

Replace the wiring harness.  bolt back and replace 5.5qts of fluid with pump through the FLUID FILL PLUG!

NOTE!!! CLEAN around the FLUID FILL PLUG before removing and clean it again before installing plug as to nothing gets inside!
